Zola Jane Francis

Zola Jane Francis, of Farmington, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Presbyterian Manor at the age of 94. She was born in Fredericktown on February 17, 1926 to the late Eldon and Mary Theresa (Killian) Huffman. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Cassell Francis in 1997; two sisters, Madelyn Lawrence and Mabel Cooper; three brothers, Crafton "Bud" Huffman, William "Sonny" Huffman and Vernon Huffman, and a sister in infancy. Zola grew up around the Fredericktown area in Mill Creek and Patton. She married Cassell Francis during World War II. After moving their family to St. Francois County she worked at Howard Tetley Jewelers and then she worked as the bookkeeper for Hecks IGA in Farmington. She was a founding member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Farmington where she was active in Womens Auxiliary and was a Sunday School Teacher. In her younger years she enjoyed sewing and made dresses for her daughters and at least two beautiful wedding gowns. Zola was an outgoing person who made friends easily and always loved visiting. Her family was her pride and joy and she especially liked cooking meals for them. Survivors include her children, Judy (Mrs. Tom) Weddle, Jane Blaies, all of Farmington and Kevin (Sharon) Francis, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. There will be a graveside service at Marcus Memorial Cemetery near Fredericktown on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. with Reverend Roger Hogan officiating. Those planning to attend are required to wear masks and to socially distance while in attendance. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the American Cancer Society or to First Free Will Baptist Church of Farmington.
