Willie Jacob "Jake" Forbes

BISMARCK - Willie Jacob "Jake" Forbes, of Bismarck, entered eternal rest on August 23, 2024, at Parkland Health Center surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 76. He was born on October 13, 1947, in Morehead City, North Carolina, to the late James Lewis Forbes and Minnie Lee (Adams) Forbes. He was united in marriage to Rebecca Rice on July 22, 1967, in Morehead City, North Carolina.

Jake is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rebecca “Becky” Forbes; his children, Audra Forbes of Farmington, Kevin (Rachel) Forbes of Desloge, Glen “Cecilia” Forbes of Washington state, and Dale (Cori) Forbes of Washington state; his eight grandchildren; and his siblings, James (Patricia) Forbes of Morehead City, NC, Lorna (Rod) Gilbreath of Newport, NC, Donald Forbes of Georgia, and Geoffrey Forbes of Morehead City, NC. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Jake proudly served his country in the United States Army with unwavering dedication. With one year of honorable service in Vietnam, he exemplified courage and commitment during a pivotal time in our nation's history. He continued to serve his nation for 23 years as an air traffic controller in the United States Army, ensuring the safety of countless flights and the lives of those aboard. After retiring from his military career, he transitioned to the Missouri Department of Corrections in Potosi, where he devoted 20 years of service. His legacy of service, integrity, and compassion will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family creating everlasting memories.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Farmington from 10:00 a.m. until the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. with full military honors.
