William Wortham

June 6, 1933 — November 18, 2015

PARK HILLS William "Delno" Wortham of Wortham passed away November 18, 2015 at Southbrook Skilled Nursing Center at the age of 82. He was born June 6, 1933 in Wortham, the son of the late Lexie Ray and Laura (Price) Wortham. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Judith (Means) Wortham in 2004; three brothers, Marion, Frank, and Bob; six sisters, Jessie, Mary, Onetha, Norma Ruth, Lea Ola and Annabelle.

Delno graduated, the Valedictorian, from Frankclay High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. He taught school in Doe Run, Fox High School in Arnold and Kingston. He went on to work as a Cartographer and a Scientific Computer Programmer for the Defense Mapping Agency. He retired from the Federal Government on April 30, 1994. He was also a licensed real estate agent from 1968 to 2004. In his spare time Delno enjoyed communicating with friends on his CB radio; gardening and was a well known historian of the Lead Belt area. He wrote a book about the history of Wortham, Missouri and was a contributor with other books of local history. A jokester, he will be remembered by his family for his sense of humor and love of family.

Survivors include his two children, Jeffrey (Lisa) Wortham of Oak Grove, Missouri and Tricia (Tony Fish) Hoehn of Farmington; five grandchildren, Megan, Jordan, Landon, Karson and Lexie; one great-grandchild, Chloe; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Friday, November 20, 2015 from 5 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Saturday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the time of the service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow at Adams Cemetery in Frankclay. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Adams Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
