William Harlan "Sonny" Ragsdale

FARMINGTON - Mr. William Harlan "Sonny" Ragsdale of Farmington passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at his home. He was born on October 11, 1920 at Farmington, the only child of the late William Burl and Mamie (Smith) Ragsdale. He was aged 94 years, three months and two days at the time of his death. Sonny grew up in Farmington and attended school there graduating from Farmington High School in 1939. Following graduation he met and married Miss Maxine Shinn and the couple made their home on a farm just outside of Farmington where Sonny raised cattle. To this union three children were born, Billy Ray, Pattia Lynn and Rebecca. Maxine preceded him in death in 1971. In 1972 met and married Ms. Glenna Grogan. Sonny enjoyed raising cattle and tending to his farm. In his spare time he enjoyed deer hunting, camping and fishing trips to his cabin on the St. Francois River. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him including his wife Glenna Mae (Grogan) Ragsdale of Farmington, children Billy Ray (& Teri) Ragsdale of Farmington, Pattia Lynn (& Greg) Vargo of Farmington, and Rebecca (& Greg) Lewis of Orlando, FL. Four grandchildren Brian Vargo of Farmington, Billy David Ragsdale (& Mimby Montgomery) of Farmington, Jocelyn Lewis of Orlando, FL, and Brooke (& David) Lapusan of Desloge, five great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives, neighbors, and good friends. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory. Visitation will resume on Friday after 7 a.m. and continue until the time of the service at 11 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel. Interment will be in Hillview Memorial Gardens at Farmington. The family suggests memorials be made to the St. Francois County Relay for Life or to Gentiva Hospice of Farmington.
