William Genard Penberthy passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at his Farmington residence, at the age of 82 years, 1 month, and 15 days. He was born on August 7, 1928, at Iron Mountain, son of the late Earl E. and Cora B. (Simmons) Penberthy. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Anthony. William proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. After returning from the service, William was employed as a Machinist with Bethlehem Steel in Sullivan and later with the St. Joseph Lead Company. He was a member of Farmington VFW and the Farmington Masonic Lodge Scottish Rite. William attended the New Heights Church. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. William is survived by his wife, Romona J. Penberthy of Farmington, son, Bruce D.(Mona) Penberthy, daughter, Kathy L. Penberthy/ Dale Mason, daughter, Annette R.(Jim) Frank, three brothers, Denver (Delores) Penberthy of Leadwood, Donald (Adalea) Penberthy of Arnold, and Vernon (Gaye) Penberthy of Mountain Home, AR, three sisters, Illah Miller of Mitchell, Beverly Floyd (Gene) of Bolivar and Rita Penberty-Moreland (Jim) of Park Hills, five grandsons, Chris Carrozza, William Frank, Nicholas Frank, Joseph Frank and Trevor Mason, a granddaughter, Melissa Civey, and two great-granddaughters, Reshea and Skyler. He is also survived by a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Kathryn Helms and many nieces, nephews and friends. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2010. Visitation will resume on Saturday morning at 7 a.m until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Cozean Chapel with Pastor Rocky Good officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Farmington. Memorials may be made to Jefferson Memorial Hospice or to the New Heights Church Building Fund.
