FARMINGTON Reverend Charley Shrum of Farmington passed away peacefully at home and went to his eternal home in Heaven while surrounded by family on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the age of 67. He was born on April 5, 1950 and grew up in the Farmington area. He graduated from Farmington High School and received his college education from Missouri Baptist University and Luther Rice Seminary. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen Sue Shrum; his parents, Wilburn and Jane Shrum and sisters, Darlene Eye and Carol Cullins.
Charley is survived by his brother, Rev. Ronald Shrum and wife, Janis, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dick and Sharon Estes; his two daughters, Jessica Sheckles and husband, Matthew Sheckles and Mindy Comer and her husband, Jake Comer. Charley was the proud grandpa of seven grandchildren who were the joy of his life. The family shared many happy and precious moments together. They remember him as a loving, caring man who gave them all nicknames. His devotion to his family was evident by how he loved spending quality time with them. He taught them to have strong Christian values, to be people of integrity and to enjoy life to the fullest.
Charley lived a devoted life to serving the Lord. He pastored churches from a very young age until the day he took his last breath. He showed Gods love not only through preaching but also by daily living. He was an example of how we show Gods love to our community, state and the world by our actions and words.
He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this man of God who led his life by example. To know Charley Shrum was to love him.
