William "Buck" Jarvis

FARMINGTON - William A. "Buck" Jarvis of Farmington passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the age of 101 years. He was born October 31, 1912 at Goodwater, son of the late William Sylvester and Eda Eveline (Williams) Jarvis. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Mae (Bowen) Jarvis, two infant sons William Edward Jarvis and Dana Jefferey Jarvis, a daughter Kelly Huckaba, three brothers George Jarvis, Matt Jarvis, and Forman Jarvis, and four sisters, Hallie Crocker, Bertha Brooks, Frankie Brakefield, and Allie Jennings. Buck worked many years for the Hanna Mining Company in the Iron Mines at Iron Mountain and later at Pilot Knob from where he retired. In his "spare" time he enjoyed tending his cattle and became a seasoned cattleman. Survivors include his five children, Cindy Schmidt and husband Ken of Chesterfield, MO, Shirley Wilson and husband David, Kay Miller and husband Jerry, Jack Jarvis and wife Cathy, and Rebecca Russell and husband Terry, all of Farmington; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a son-in-law, Larry Huckaba, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014. Visitation will resume Sunday from 9 a.m. until the beginning of the service at 2 p.m. in the Cozean Chapel with the Rev. David Bates officiating. Interment will be at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Farmington. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Gideons International.
