William "Bill" Lloyd Merryfield

January 5, 1941 — January 2, 2025

William Lloyd Merryfield, 83, of Kirkwood, MO, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Southbrook Skilled Nursing Center in Farmington, MO.

William “Bill” was born January 15, 1941, in Windsor, MO, to the late Lloyd E. and Margaret E. (Lane) Merryfield. Bill is survived by his brother, Robert M. (wife, Karen) Merryfield, of South Bend, IN, his nephew, Gregory L. Merryfield of Indianapolis, IN, niece, Sandra L. Bizzano of Lake Oswego, OR, aunt, Mary Lu (Lane) Gorrell, and cousins, John Merryfield, Jim Merryfield, Ann Mobley, Bill Odneal, Sally Mergen, Susan Smith, Carol Stockwood, and Cheryl McCollister. Bill was preceded in death by his uncle, William A. “Bill” Merryfield, aunts, Louise Ordway, Alta Cooper, and Helen Odneal and his uncles, Holmes, James, Herbert, George, Rex, Mansel, and Robert Lane.

Bill graduated from Windsor, MO High School in 1959, and continued his education at the University of Missouri, Columbia, graduating in 1963 with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree. Bill served in the Army Reserves for seven years after receiving his degree. In 1963, Bill began his career as an Accountant with Anheuser Busch in St. Louis. Bill was employed at Anheuser Busch as a Senior Tax Accountant, retiring in 2003 after 40 years of service.

Bill resided in Kirkwood, MO, but his favorite place was his hometown, Windsor, MO. Bill looked forward to returning to Windsor to play golf with his friends, Larry and Gary Womble and Keith Allen at Whiteman Air Force Golf Course. He would go duck hunting with Larry in the fall.

There were two events he looked forward  to each year. One was his annual reunion with his 1959 Windsor High School Class. The second and most favorite was the Merryfield family Thanksgiving dinner, which had been held in our family since the end of World War II. The event was hosted in recent years by our cousins, Sally and Susan and Bill would count down the days until Thanksgiving.

The family wishes to extend our thanks to Kaytlynn Chaplin and the wonderful staff at Arbors-Mattis Pointe, St. Louis, for the outstanding care given Bill during his almost three years stay at the facility. Also, the Southbrook Skilled Nursing by Americare, Farmington, MO. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Laurel Oaks Cemetery in Windsor, Missouri. The time is pending.
