FARMINGTON William "Bill" Detjen of Farmington, passed away May 19, 2018 at his residence in Farmington at the age of 81. He was born on July 19, 1936, in St. Louis, MO to the late William and Edna (Jaycox) Detjen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother in law, Iretta Spencer, father in law, Thomas Spencer and a brother in law, John Didion.
Bill was a retired carpenter superintendent who worked for Brockmiller Construction for 23 years. He was a member of the Local Carpenter's Union and the Farmington Christian Church where he served as a deacon. Bill was an avid outdoorsman who loved canoeing, hiking, swimming, fishing, hunting and chopping wood. He enjoyed Tuesday morning breakfasts at the Factory with dear friends.He was a devoted family man and a member of the 1955 graduating class of Webster Groves High School.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Marcia "Mitzie" (Spencer) Detjen of Farmington, children, Vickie (Steve) Huckstep of Fenton, Tom Detjen of Farmington, Bill Detjen of Farmington and Lori (Lyle) Rosburg of Jefferson City, grandchildren, Jessica (Matt) Eschmann, Robert (Lauren) Huckstep, Danielle Detjen, and Austin Bequette, great grandchildren, Carlie Eschmann and Chip Huckstep, sisters, Ruth Ann Didion of Ft. Smith, AR and Ginger (Ron) Rice of Florence, KY, lifelong friend, Frank Voertmann of Farmington, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 16th at 11 a.m. at the Farmington Christian Church in Farmington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Farmington Christian Church, 201 West Columbia Street, Farmington, MO 63640.
