FARMINGTON Willard Carl Hager of Farmington passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Southbrook Skilled Nursing Center at the age of 88 years. He was born on February 29, 1928 at Farmington son of the late George F. and Bessie (Shy) Hager. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Harley Hager, Robert Hager, Floyd Hager, Roy Hager and George Hager, Jr. and one sister Ruby Odgers.
Willard grew up in and around Farmington and graduated from Esther high school. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War after which, he went on to attend the University of Missouri earning his Bachelors degree in Agricultural Science. He was retired from the Missouri Department of Transportation and was a long-time member of the Flat River Church of Christ.
He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him including his wife of 61 years, Mary E. (Grifford) Hager of Farmington, two sons Steven D. Hager of Farmington and Kevin D. (& Judy) Hager of Boerne, Texas, four grandchildren, Jason Hager, Kristin (Hager) Patterson, Byron Hager and Emily Hager; three great-grandchildren Jack, Alivia, and Lucy; two sisters, Helen Landolt and Dorothy Boyd both of Finley, Ohio, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and dear friends.
Willard will be remembered for his endless smile, love of God and care he gave to others. His love of God and desire to serve and worship him everyday was a way of life which will leave a legacy for his family, friends, church and community. He was a wonderful husband, Father and grandfather and a great friend to so many.
Friends may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. visitation will resume on Friday after 7 a.m. and continue until the time of the service at 11 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Evangelists Bernie Crum and John Flickinger officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Farmington. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Children's Homes, Inc. of Paragould, Arkansas.
