FARMINGTON - Wayne William Schurter of Farmington, passed away on January 16, 2021 at Parkland Health Center at the age of 85. He was born on September 7, 1935, in Tremont, Illinois to the late William and Mildred (Luick) Schurter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Kristen Schurter and Laura Schurter along with his sister, Carol Schurter. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Phyllis (Haile) Schurter, his son, Stephen Schurter of St. Louis, MO, three granddaughters, Jessica (and husband Ben) Wheeler, Lindsey Schurter, and Madisen Schurter, three great grandchildren, Zooey, Holden, and Phoebe, her brother, Gary Schurter of Warsaw, WI along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Wayne graduated from Westminster College with a Bachelor's of Science degree. He also graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology with an Electrical Engineering degree. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Wayne retired after working for 32 years as an electrical engineer for McDonnell Douglas. He also worked on the first space program at Boeing in the 1960's. He was an avid coin collector and also enjoyed working on cars and playing tennis. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. There will be no formal services per the family's request.
