Waylen Harold Bowers

FARMINGTON Waylen Harold Bowers, of Farmington, passed away on March 13, 2017 at Presbyterian Manor at the age of 88 years. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on August 19, 1928 to the late William Alvin Bowers and Mary Ellen (Burns) Bowers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters, Elsie Porter, Effie Boelloen, Goldie Black and Bessie Tripp.

Waylen was a hard working and industrious person who started his adult life serving his country in the United States Army. After his military service he worked in the shoe manufacturing industry for more than thirty years retiring from Trimfoot. He was an avid gardner who will be remembered for his wonderful tomatoes and other produce. He generously gave away most of what he grew. Many will remember Waylen for his cooking skills, especially his homemade biscuits and Divinity.

Survivors include his brother, Robert E. (Ivonne) Bowers of Koshkonong, Missouri; nephews, nieces, cousins and good friends.

Friends may call on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 5 8 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. Visitation will resume Friday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Reverend Matt Prihoda officiating.
