Walter "Walt" Frederick Thiemet

FARMINGTON Walt Thiemet of Farmington passed away December 28, 2017 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis at the age of 72. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 19, 1945 to the late Joseph and Maria (Yetz) Thiemet. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Thiemet and Frederick Thiemet.

Walt grew up in St. Louis attending school at Christian Brothers College High School where he graduated. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Upon his return to civilian life he met the love of his life, Lyla Dotson. They were married March 1, 1969 in Colorado. He retired after a long, successful career with Lockheed Martin as an aerospace engineer. He and Lyla recently moved to Farmington from Loveland, Colorado where they enjoyed their new home in the woods. Walt will be greatly missed by his granddaughters who were the light of his life.

Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Lyla; his children, James Joseph (Jennifer Lynn) Thiemet of Anderson, Indiana and Marcy Thiemet of Loveland, Colorado; four grandchildren, Megan Riley, Taya Kappen, Makena Rose and Jessica Kappen; God daughter, Kathy Howerton and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Viewing will be held at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Sunday, December 31, 2017 from 3 4 p.m. Graveside services at St. Francois Memorial Park will be private.
