Walter Lee Bable

Walter Lee Bable of Farmington entered into Heaven on Thursday, January 3, 2013, at the age of 94. He was born on July 18, 1918, at Caledonia, son of the late Watson and Hettie (Roberts) Bable. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, grandson, granddaughter, two sisters, and two brothers. The oldest of 5 children, Walter was raised in Caledonia during hard times. He left school after the 8th grade to help his family. On February 4, 1942 he went into the Army Air Corps where his duty was Ordinance of Handling Ammunition during World War II. Later Walter was called back to the reserves for the Korean conflict. After the service he worked as a logger and drove logging trucks all over the United States. He later was employed for MFA Fertilizer and Plant Foods from where he retired in 1973. He was an outdoorsman who liked fishing, camping and gardening. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Mae (Street) Bable; five daughters, Kathy (Pat) Skaggs, Mary Ann Robbins, Wanda (Johnny) Williams, Linda Sue Andres and Debbie Garrett; three sons, Earl (Linda) Bable, Larry Bable, and Eddie (Tina) Bable; one step-daughter, JoAnn (Bob) Graham; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Sunday, January 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Monday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the funeral at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel.
