Walter Edwin Thomson

IRONTON Walter Edwin Thomson, of Ironton, entered into eternal rest on January 7, 2023, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center at the age of 84. He was born on May 19, 1938, in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Renick and Tracey (Buchanan) Thomson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Shelby (Hicks) Thomson who passed away in 2004 and Ruth Ann (Williams) Thomson who passed away in 2018, his sisters, Virginia Owens and Verda Wallace, his brothers-in-law, Paul Williams, Robert Long, John Williams, Gene Hicks, Robert Thompson, and his sister-in-law, Sandy Hicks. Walter is survived by his daughters, Tammy Jo Cutler of Marshfield, WI and Stacy Lynn (Neil) George of England, his stepchildren, Gayla Williams of Park Hills and Michael Gunning of Bismark, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, special friends, Christopher and Carrie Wadlow of Park Hills, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Walter was a retired veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam War and the Cuban Crisis. He was a faithful Christian and was a former pastor at Flat River Christian Church. He was currently a member of Community Christian Church and the Cowboy Church. Walter loved his family deeply and will be fondly remembered and dearly missed. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel officiated by Pastor Ron Starwalt. Interment at Pioneer Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.
