Von Gilliam

FARMINGTON It is with much love that the family of Avondel "Von" Gilliam announces his passing on December 1, 2023 at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 26 days. Von was born December 5, 1943, in Courtois, Missouri to the late Murlen Gilliam and Hallie (Blair) Gilliam. Von will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Mary (Becker) Gilliam; his children, Tracey Shaffer (Travis), Melissa Gilliam-Kellogg (Daniel) and Michael Gilliam (Jaclyn). He is also survived by his greatly loved grandchildren Kaitlyn Gilliam, Baylee Hrouda (Dylan), Sidney Dugge, Jessica Dugge, Ayden Kellogg, and Emily Gilliam; and his first great-grandson, Miles Hrouda. Von is also survived by two sisters Sharon Kay Jones (and the late Gary Jones) and Sandra Fay Brame (Michael); nephew T. J. Jones; nieces, Kari Jones and Rebecca Jones; mother-in-law, Hazel Becker; sisters-in-law, Sharma Becker and Nelma Williams; brother-in-law, Lynn Williams; great nephews, cousins and many good friends. Von was an electrical contractor for 46 years. His favorite pastimes were watching his grandchildren participate in sports, camping, hunting, and traveling. A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 5 8 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. Visitation will resume Thursday, December 7, beginning at 7 a.m. until the funeral service beginning at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Rev. Joe Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at Doe Run Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Vons name to St. Jude Childrens Hospital or to Doe Run Memorial United Methodist Church.
