Virginia P. Schoen

BONNE TERRE Virginia P. Schoen, of Bonne Terre, passed away, May 9, 2018 at Camelot Nursing and Rehab at the age of 94. She was born October 25, 1923 at home in Oran, Missouri to the late Arthur Wolfgang and Elnora (Westrich) Mier. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Anton Schoen in 2013; and two sisters, Rita Shaffer and Lavera Heisserer.

Virginia was raised on the family farm at Oran, Missouri and attended Canney School, a two room school house. She went on to graduate from Chaffee High School. While working at the shoe factory in Chaffe she met the love of her life, Anton. After their marriage they made their home in St. Louis where they raised their family. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Virginia was also an avid gardener, seamstress and cook. She did her cooking and baking from scratch and it was always delicious. Virginia loved music. She was a pianist and until recently enjoyed sitting down to the piano and playing. A devout Catholic, Virginia was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in French Village, Missouri.

She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Kleinsorge and son, Michael (Debby) Schoen; five grandchildren, Kimberly (Frank) Kleinsorge, Christina (Matthew) Rariden, Robert (Jamie) Schoen, Pamela (Kevin) Haynes and Tony (Danielle) Schoen; great-grandchild, Lydia, Wade, Clare, Jack, Ryan, Evan, Mason, Luke, Delaney, Levi and Liv; and a sister, Iris Crowe.

Friends may call on Friday, May 11 at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Visitation will resume at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning until 9:30 a.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church in French Village with Father Stephen Bauer officiating. Interment will follow at St. Anne Catholic Church Cemetery.
