Virginia May Gray

August 25, 1925 — December 1, 2021

FARMINGTON Virginia Gray of Farmington, entered into eternal rest on December 1, 2021, at Presbyterian Manor at the age of 96. She was born on August 25, 1925, in Appleton City, Missouri to the late Merl and Velma (Harvey) Sargent. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, of 62 years, Lester Junior Gray, and her sisters, Faye (the late Reverend Bill) Spindler and Lola Irene Sargent. Virginia is survived by her children, Larry (wife, Anita) Gray of Farmington, Kathy (husband, Jerry) Walden of Farmington and Tim (wife, Kelley) Gray of Arnold, her grandchildren, Kevin (wife, Tori) Gray, Stacey Thompson, Eric (wife, Brittni) Walden, and Justin (wife, Morgan) Gray, her great grandchildren, Devonna, Jordan, Robert, Mya, Tycen, Brant, Jelena, Kyle, Keegan, Ascher, and Sadie, her former daughter-in-law and friend, Juanita Gray, along with nieces, nephews, and friends. Along with being a wonderful wife and mother, she worked as a switchboard operator in the early days of telephony; she was Laura Ingalls Wilders personal operator. She also had careers as a secretary, bookkeeper, salesperson and business owner. Virginia was on the founding team and a member of the Bridge Community Church where she hosted home groups. She was also a former long time Sunday school teacher. Virginia was known to her family as being extremely even-keel, taking life in stride in the good times and the difficult times. She was an effortless, great cook, and could host 30 people as easily as two. She was known as Gigi to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, from 11:00am until time of service at 2:00pm at The Bridge, 301 Lore Lane, Leadington, MO with Pastor Tim Gray officiating. Interment to follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations, if desired, may be made for church planting to the Bridge Community Church or to City On A Hill Church, 2138 Ridge Drive, Arnold, MO 63010.
