FARMINGTON Virginia Marie Elders of Farmington passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at the age of 94. She was born on April 4, 1928, in Leadwood to the late Ralph Edward Woods and Bessie Etta (Lawson) Woods. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis Ann Eller in 2014; and three sisters, Iona Ann Hartman, Norma Jean Barbee and Betty Jean Hardy. After Virginia grew up in Irondale, Missouri where she graduated from high school in 1946, she began a long career in banking. She first worked for the Potosi Bank, then United Bank of Farmington and finally First State Community Bank, both in Farmington and Ironton. She was a favorite teller of many bank customers. Virginia married her high school sweetheart, Delmar Elders in 1948. They celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary on May 23rd of this year. They were blessed with three daughters and enjoyed many years of vacationing at the beach and camping as a family. After retirement Virginia and Delmar loved wintering in South Texas and the rest of the year, she enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and travels. Some of Virginias favorite pastimes were fishing, music, reading and watching her grandchildrens and great grandchildrens games. She was a faithful member of St Paul Lutheran Church of Farmington. Survivors include her loving husband, Delmar Lee Elders; her children, Marcia (Elders) Buckley and husband Tom, Lisa (Elders) Bird and husband Jonathon, and son-in-law, Gary Eller. Virginia was blessed with five grandchildren, Bethany Sherrill (Andy), Ryan Buckley (Caity), Allison Eller, Mallory Mistretta (Philip) and Ross Ledbetter (Holli). She was also blessed with twelve great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Wednesday morning at 7 a.m. until the funeral beginning at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Pastor Stephen Constien officiating.
