Virginia Jo Thurman

FARMINGTON, MO Virginia Jo Thurman of Farmington, passed away February 8 , 2022 at Parkland Health Center in Farmington at the age of 91. She was born on June 12, 1930 to the late Joyce Leonard Hudlow and Lela Mae (Brown) Hudlow. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Linn Thurman in 2020; and a brother, Jackie Hudlow.

Virginia grew up in Arkansas where she graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with a Bachelors in Education. She received her Masters degree from Webster University and was a Home Economics teacher. She moved to Farmington where she began a career teaching Home Economics at the Farmington High School. Soon after relocating to Farmington she met Linn Thurman and they were married in 1960. She retired from the Farmington school system after thirty-three years. She loved to cross-stitch and created many cross-stitch pieces for family and friends. She was a faithful member of Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter Kim (Ed) Gavlik; three grandchildren, Ashley (Travis) Day, Hannah (Austin Sanders) Mason and Sawyer Mason; and two great grandchildren, Ben and Urban Day.

A visitation will be held at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 4 7 p.m. Visitation will resume Sunday in the Cozean Chapel beginning at 1 p.m. until the funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. with Pastor Ron Beaton officiating.
