FARMINGTON Virginia Ann King of Farmington passed away December 13, 2023 at her home at the age of 77. She was born in Bonne Terre, Missouri on December 10, 1946, to the late John Melvin Jones and Zada (Valeck) Massey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Natalie McClintock and Gina Johnson; and a brother, Jerry Counts. Virginia was a 1965 graduate of Farmington High School. In 1969 she went to work for the then new Parkland Health Center as a ward clerk and later a unit secretary. She retired from there after 38 years of service with the hospital. She was a faithful member of Three Rivers Baptist Church. Many will remember her sending special cards to church family and friends that she decorated. In her early years she enjoyed singing at various venues and she belonged to several bowling leagues as well. Virginia was a passionate animal lover, having had many pets through the years. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Stanley; two grandsons, Brad Mahurin and Jarred (Mariah) Sumpter, currently serving in the US Air Force in Florida; great grandchildren, Kendall Marie and Jameson Ray Sumpter and a host of cousins and extended family. A graveside service will be held at Knights of Pythias Cemetery on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 1 p.m. with Pastor David Wright officiating.
