Virgie Mae Bloom-Callanan of Farmington passed away on Monday, June 22, 2009, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital at the age of 86 years, 9 months, and 14 days. She was born on September 8, 1922, at Bland, MO, daughter of the late Ray and Zella (Haddox) Jett. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death two brothers, a sister and her former husband, John Bloom. Virgie was a member of the Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church, Rebekah Lodge 407, Patriarch Auxiliary, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Eastern Star and the Encampment Auxiliary. She was an honorary member of the 65th Infantry Division. Before her retirement he worked as a waitress for Capitol Cafe for over 33 years. She is survived by her husband, Ray Callanan, a daughter, Sher Pirtle and a son, Rickey Fahnestock. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren as well as great-great-grandchildren. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2009. Visitation on Friday at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. with Pastor Steven Thomas officiating. Interment will be at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery.
