Vernetta June Young

BELLEVIEW Vernetta June Young of Farmington passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Belleview Valley Nursing Home at the age of 77 years. She was born August 8, 1938 at Elvins the only child of the late Allen Loyd and Stella Frances (Grieshaber) McDaniel. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dennis Clarke Young in 2014 and a daughter Carolyn Ann Young in 1962.

Vernetta was a long-time member of the Farmington First Baptist Church where she faithfully served as a cook in the kitchen and as a volunteer for Vacation Bible School.

She and her late husband Dennis were instrumental in the founding of and life-long supporters of the Wolf Creek Volunteer Fire Department. Vernetta loved living on the farm and enjoyed raising and caring for her animals, especially her horses. She enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening and was a talented quilter. Her greatest joys in life, however were her husband and son.

She will be missed by many dear friends and neighbors but particularly by her son John (& Lara) Young of Affton, and her extended church family.

Friends may call at the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Thursday, February 18, 2016 from12 noon to 2 p.m. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Dr. William C. Miller officiating. Interment will be at Hillview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests any memorials be made to either Farmington First Baptist Church or the Wolf Creek Fire Department.
