Verna Ruth Springs

FARMINGTON Verna Ruth Springs of Farmington passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on June 27, 2017 at the age of 73. She was born August 10, 1943 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of the late Marvin and Louise (Lane) Blunt. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, LeRoy Blunt and an infant sister, Helen June Blunt.

Verna moved to Farmington in 1984 from Festus. She worked in the Farmington School District as a paraprofessional in the special education field for fifteen years until her retirement in 2002. She enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. Verna was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Farmington.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, E. Dale Springs; two daughters, Stephanie (Warren) Westrup of Desloge and Dana (Jason) Gilliam of Farmington; six grandchildren, Colin and Garrett Martin, Grace Gilliam, Danesha (Scott) Kulow, and Matthew and Elijah Westrup; one great granddaughter, Saphira Kulow and two great grandsons on the way. Also surviving are her siblings, Bob (Mary Ann) Blunt, Maggie (Bud) Riley, Marion (the late Sue) Blunt, Larry (Teresa) Blunt, Charles (Bernice) Blunt, Richard Blunt and Linda Turner; many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Friends and family may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 5 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday morning from 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment will be held at New Calvary Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
