Velma LaVerne Schuessler of Park Hills passed away August 11, 2006, at Parkland Health Center, at the age of 80 years. She was born on June 19, 1926, at Crosstown, MO, the daughter of the late Earl and Callie (Sandlin) Farrar. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernold Schuessler, and a son, Alan Schuessler. Mrs. Schuessler was a member of the Esther United Methodist Church. On April 15, 1950, she was united in marriage to her late husband, Vernold Rudolph Schuessler. She was an elementary school teacher and began her teaching career at the Menfro and Crosstown School houses at Perry County, MO. After moving to this area she taught at the Esther and the Central R-III School districts. Velma was truly blessed with the fruits of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. She touched people with her contagious laughter and the warmth of her heart, as well as her creativity and home-cooked meals. She enjoyed serving her family, friends, Church and community. Her family loved her devotedly and will miss her with all their hearts. She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Harris and husband Ric of Desloge, daughter-in-law, Connie Schuessler of Brazeau, MO, two granddaughters, Lauren and Ashlee Harris of Desloge, and special friend and neighbor, Peggy Mitchell of Park Hills. Many cherished relatives, friends, and her church family also survive. The family will receive friends at the Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2006. Visitation will resume on Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. A funeral service will be held at the Cozean Chapel on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Darrell McFarland officiating. Burial will follow at Three Rivers Cemetery.
