Valerie Jean Cowie

Valerie Jean Cowie (Proffer) daughter of the late Lois Willbur and Odis Proffer passed away peacefully at home January 5, 2021. She is survived by loving children James Cowie and his wife Jessica Cowie. Samantha Proffer and her fianc Jason Marquez. Valerie lived the majority of her life near the beaches in California. Valerie was an avid writer and stay at home mother to her two children. She always enjoyed traveling to her favorite places whether it be the mountains, the desert, or the beaches. She loved getting out and making memories with those she loved. Eventually she moved to Missouri to care for her mother where she continued to write and go to school. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Walden University in 2017 with a B.S. in communication. She still held on to her love of travel, traveling to Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, and even a surprise trip to a ranch in Montana with her son. Although now she had a reason to travel other than leisure, she was in the land of her ancestors and was researching their journey and going where they had been, a passion she shared with and passed on to her children. She had a joyful life with her family and many others that became part of her family. Although we are saddened by her passing, we know she is at peace.
