Trudy Kennedy

LEADINGTON Trudy Kennedy, of Leadington, passed away October 31, 2021, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 64. She was born in Elvins, Missouri on January 12, 1957, to the late Troy Eugene Kennedy and Gloria Fay Jane Barnes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Duke Cozort in 2009; and infant daughter, Cassaundra Cozort; sisters, Gloria Jean Hammers, Sue Moore and Nikki Maurer. Trudy was very musical and loved to sing. She could play many instruments and performed with her family in a Bluegrass Band called the Misfits. Her family will remember her as having a fiery personality; someone who had a great sense of humor who was one of a kind. Mostly, they will remember her for being a beautiful soul who loved her family. Survivors include her life partner, Lee Moore; her two daughters, Shantilly Cozort and Shawna Cozort; five grandchildren, Jacob Cozort, Trinity Fiori, Miranda Jones, Kane and Cole Moody; four great grandchildren, Ava Jones, Wyatte Jones, Octavia Crump and Raven Crump; her sisters, Sherry Wilson and Penny Fulk; brothers, Rich Kennedy, David Kennedy, Kenny Kennedy and Tod Kennedy. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, November 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. Visitation will resume Friday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Brother Elmer Killian officiating. Interment will follow at Genevieve Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Cozean Memorial Chapel to defray costs of Trudys funeral expenses.
