Thomas “Tom” Ramsey

FARMINGTON - Thomas "Tom" Ramsey, of Farmington, entered into eternal rest on March 11, 2022 at Parkland Health Center, at the age of 83. He was born in St. Louis on March 7, 1939 to the late Anna Miller Ramsey. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepson, John Wright, Jr., his aunt, uncle and a grandfather who were instrumental in raising him, Lucille Inman, Burnell Inman and Tommy Miller. Tom, as everyone knew him, grew up in Iron County, Missouri where he graduated from Ironton High School. From an early age until his retirement, he was a well-known horse trainer and ferrier in the Lead Belt area. He began his career in 1968 with the Chastain Family and in 1978 until his retirement in 2017 he was self-employed in his profession. He successfully competed on a national level at horse shows throughout the country for many years. He was a mentor to so many in the equestrian field throughout his years and will be remembered as a true professional in his field. Tom was also an avid St.Louis Cardinal fan all of his life. Survivors include his loving wife Ann (Boxdorfer) Ramsey; his children, Tom (Debby) Ramsey of Festus, Rob (Kelly) Ramsey of Ballwin, James (Victoria) Ramsey of Springfield, Missouri, Leann (Randy) Clark of Poplar Bluff, Susannah (Brad) Cantrell of El Granada, California and Caroline Wright of Bonne Terre; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are close extended family and many friends. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, March 15, beginning at 7:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m.. Interment to follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
