Retired Fire Captain Thomas "Tom" E. Harris of the Farmington Fire Department entered eternal rest on May 25, 2024, at the age of 57. He was born in Fredericktown, Missouri, on July 25, 1966, to Thomas and Paula (Stam) Harris, who preceded him in death. Tom was united in marriage to Denise Paris on June 6, 1987, in Farmington, Missouri. Tom is survived by his wife, Denise (Paris) Harris; his children, Jessica (Ty Williams) Harris, Jordyn (Eli Pogue) Harris; bonus children, Jennifer Hill, Eric (Heather) King, and Justin (Haley) Hill; grandchildren, Kaylee King and Reese Halbrook; brother, Terry (Kim) Harris; nieces, Breanna Harris and Bethany Harris; great niece, Rayelynn Barker; mother and father-in-law, Frank and Brenda Paris; brother-in-law, Frank (Susan) Paris and two daughters, Mackenzie Paris and Sydney Paris; also surviving are, several aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and many special friends. He is also survived by his beloved canine companions, Sampson, Marshall, Fancy and his grandpup, Dixie. Tom dedicated 36 years of his life to serving as a firefighter with the Farmington Fire Department. His years of service as a firefighter were marked by countless acts of courage and compassion. Whether battling a blaze, rescuing those in need, or providing support to those affected by tragedy, Tom was a pillar of strength and a beacon of hope. His legacy as a firefighter will forever be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a member of the Farmington Elks Lodge #1765 for four years. In his spare time, Tom enjoyed cooking, camping, rock crawling, playing golf, racing, and watching the St. Louis Blues. A true jack of all trades, he was a skilled handyman who could fix just about anything with nothing but his tools and determination. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, his family was the center of his world, and he took great joy in creating lasting memories with them. A visitation will be held at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 4-8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 10 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. officiated by his father-in-law, Frank Paris. Immediately following the funeral service, we will proceed via a walking procession from the funeral home to the Farmington Fire Department Headquarters located at 222 East Columbia Street, Farmington, MO 636340 where Fire Department Honors will be rendered.
