Thomas Rigdon

Thomas J. Rigdon of Farmington, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Thursday, July 7, 2011, at his residence, at the age of 67 years. He was born on July 24, 1943, in Farmington, son of the late Evelyn (Huber) and Elmer Rigdon. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Rigdon. Tom was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Farmington. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of the Farmington American Legion, Post Number 416 and the Farmington Elks. Tom was a 1961 graduate of St. Joseph High School and went on to work in the accounting department of The Doe Run Company where he retired in 2001 after 34 years. In his retirement he enjoyed his yard, gardening, flowers and just playing in the dirt . More than anything Tom enjoyed his family and his grandkids, who were the light of his life. Tom will be missed by all those who knew and loved him, including his wife of 48 years, Carolyn (Smith) Rigdon, two sons, Michael Rigdon and wife Stephanie and Scott Rigdon; and three grandchildren, Landon, Madison and Alex, all of Farmington. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind his beloved and faithful companion, his dog, Peco. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. on Sunday July 10, 2011. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Rickey Valleroy officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be at New Calvary Cemetery in Farmington. Memorials may be made to Serenity Hospice or Women of Mary of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
