Thelma Irene Manning

Thelma Irene Manning, of Doe Run, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 24, 2014 at the age of 90. She was born August 4, 1924 to the late Houston and Anna (Jones) Hurst. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Manning; an infant son; one sister, Ila Crocker; and three brothers, Charlie, Herman and Earl Hurst. Thelma was a long time resident of Doe Run where she raised her family and was active in the community. She will be remembered as being a hard worker who had a strong will. She grew big vegetable gardens and canned and gave away much of what she grew to friends and neighbors. She and her daughter Judy had a special life-long bond. Her devotion to her children and grandchildren was great and she was happiest when they were around her. Survivors include her children, Judy Turner, Ed Turner and wife, Dot, Paul Turner and wife, Linda, Jerry Turner and wife, Diana and Danny Turner; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, December 31 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel. Interment will be held at Pendleton Cemetery.
