Thelma Claire Chambers, of Farmington, passed away surrounded by loving family on October 29, 2014 at Presbyterian Manor. She was born January 14, 1939 to the late Joseph and Germaine (Vigneux) Caron in Central Falls, Rhode Island. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence W. Chambers in 2004; and a brother, Rene Caron. Thelma was raised in Quebec, the daughter of French-Canadian parents who were textile mill workers in the Northeastern United States. Thelma's first language was French. She learned English when she was eleven years old after moving to Rhode Island. She later married, in Puerto Rico, the love of her life, Clarence "Chuck," whose naval career took them to many worldly destinations. Travel took her to Paris, London, Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Italy and throughout the United States. Community and church were important to Thelma. She had been a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Farmington. A lover of pets, her home was never without a dog. Survivors include three daughters, Suzette (Mrs. John) Morris, Marilyn (Mrs. Ken) Shoumake and Germaine (Mrs. Kenneth) Dolmage; and four grandchildren, Laura Morris, Jeffrey Morris (and wife, Kimberly), Danielle Morris and Zachary Shoumake. Friends may call on Sunday, November 2 from 5 - 8 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. There will be a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. during the visitation hours. Visitation will resume Monday morning from 7 until 9:30 a.m. at Cozean Chapel.
