Thelma Christine Skaggs

FARMINGTON - Thelma Christine Skaggs of Farmington passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at the Southbrook Skilled Nursing Center at the age of 81 years. She was born December 17, 1933 at Alto Pass, IL daughter of the late Leland and Myrtle (Sisk) Lyerla. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Martin "Marty" Skaggs, son Roger Skaggs, sisters Freida Qualls and Bonnie Sheets, and a brother Ralph Lyerla. She was a member of the Doe Run First Baptist Church were she served and worshiped faithfully for many years. She enjoyed Gospel Music and in years past, singing with her late husband for the Gospel Radio Hour. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her including her children Rick (& Sandy) Skaggs, and Tina (& Mike) Govro, ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, six brothers, Jim Lyerla, Curtis Lyerla, Donald Lyerla, Victor Lyerla, Harold Lyerla, and Herschel Lyerla, two sisters Sherry Wofford and Shelba Vandergraph, and numerous other relatives, dear friends and neighbors. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday in the Cozean Chapel with the Reverends Tim Morgan and Keith Huffman officiating. Interment will be in the Three Rivers Cemetery near Farmington. Memorials, if desired, may be made to any charity or benevolent organization of the donor's choice.
