Susann "Sue" Bauche

Susann L. "Sue" Bauche of Farmington passed away after a long, hard fought battle with colon cancer on July 6, 2013, at the age of 55. She was born November 16, 1957, at Crystal City to the late Melvin and Virginia (Cavanaugh) Mehler. Sue was a 1976 graduate of DeSoto High School and a 1980 Graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. She was the choral director for the West County School District for 14 years from 1983 until 1997 when she took the position of choral director for Farmington High School. She remained with the Farmington School District until her retirement in 2012. In addition to teaching, Sue served the Memorial United Methodist Church as Chancel Choir Director. Among the honors she received was the Missouri Choral Directors' Association Award Winner for Outstanding Achievement in 2011, and the Farmington School District Teacher of the Year in 2012. She was a senior demonstrator for Stampin' Up. She enjoyed various hobbies such as rubber stamping, card club, reading, Sudoku, and seeing her "babies" succeed at West County and Farmington Schools. Watching her own children grow up at Mizzou was a great delight to her as well. Listening to, watching, and attending games of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team was a favorite pastime of hers. One of the items recently crossed off her "bucket list" occurred when she and her husband, Kurt, attended a Cardinals spring training game on a trip to Florida last winter. Sue was known to relax with a good book while drifting off to sleep on a blow up raft in her pool. She was also known to sit in the hot tub on a "snow day from school". She loved watching birds in the morning over a cup of coffee before going to the clubhouse. Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Kurt D. Bauche, a daughter, Kathryn "Kate" Bauche and a son, Kyle Bauche, both of Columbia, MO; sisters, Patricia Richardson and husband, Chris, of Kansas City, MO, Donna Beech and husband, Kevin, of Columbia, IL, and Carol Ising and husband, B.J., of Hillsboro; and a brother, Dennis Mehler and wife, Deb, of Branson. Also surviving are numerous, nieces, nephews and good friends. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 9, at 11 a.m. at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Farmington with a visitation to follow in the Church's Fellowship Hall.
