Steven Perkins

FARMINGTON Steven F. Perkins, of Farmington, passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 10, 2022, at the age of 66. He was born November 25, 1955, in Moberly, Missouri to the late Fred and Lorena (Barnett) Perkins. Steven was a 1973 graduate of Moberly High School. Soon after graduation he went to work at the Missouri Corrections Center at Moberly. In 1986, he was transferred to the new SEMO Corrections Center in Farmington. For sixteen years he was a captain and just about everyone called him "Captain Perkins". His career spanned 32 years with the department until his retirement in 2008. Steven had a big personality and if you ever met him, you would never forget him. After his retirement, he worked as 911 Director in Madison and Iron Counties and worked in security jobs in the area. He was a 32 degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite. In his spare time he loved to travel and go to outdoor music venues. He also enjoyed spending a lot of time with his beloved grandchildren. Survivors include his loving wife, Carol Perkins, his children, Christopher Perkins and Lindsay Bien, his grandchildren, Ethan Perkins and Lexie Bien and his step grandchildren, Eric, Evan and Emilie Skiles. A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. Visitation will resume on Monday, March 14, beginning at 7:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Reverend Bryce Guile officiating. Interment to follow at Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Farmington. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Lutheran School.
