Shirley Ruth Eaton

Shirley Ruth Eaton, of Farmington passed away in Ballwin, Missouri on November 15, 2022, at the age of 91. She was born in Farmington on November 29, 1930, to the late Howard Harris McCarty and Lottie "Zell" (Meyer) McCarty. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Larry Eaton in 2017; a son-in-law, Louis F. Blum; a brother, Marshall McCarty and sister, Deanna Richardson. Shirley was a lifelong resident of Farmington and a longtime member of the Farmington Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon. She was a member of Nan Weber Garden Club as well. Shirley and her husband, Larry were well known pioneer entrepreneurs in the Farmington community having owned and operated numerous businesses and ventures in the area. Notably among these were Big Burger Drive-In and Bonanza in Farmington. The Eatons were instrumental in beginning business growth on Karsch Boulevard. Being outdoors and nature were a big part of Shirleys life. She enjoyed being on the water, fishing, boating, swimming, especially on the beach in Florida. She particularly loved spending time with her family. She was a special lady who was capable of combining her smart and savvy business sense with being a devoted and caring mother to her three daughters. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Surviving are her three daughters Nancy Blum and husband, Paul Korkos of Naples, Florida, Cathy Kendall and husband, John of Waterloo, Illinois, and Sally Stiffelman and her husband, Laurence of Ballwin, Missouri; four grandchildren, Carli (& Casey) Lewis of Lafayette, Indiana, Nick Blum of Indianapolis, Indiana, Megan (& Jack) Meara of St. Louis, Missouri, and Mallory Stiffelman of Columbia, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Lulu Lewis, Sawyer Lewis and Amelia Meara and a sister, Marietta (& Ron) Tiller of Maryville, Tennessee. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the many caregivers who have cared for Shirley during the past ten years. Friends may call on Friday, November 18, 2022 from 4 6 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. Visitation will resume at 1.30 p.m. on Saturday followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Paul Bembower officiating. Interment service will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Farmington.
