Shirley Claudine Poppleton

CALHOUN, KY - Shirley Claudine Poppleton, 78, of Calhoun, Kentucky, formerly of Crystal City, passed away June 21, 2014 in Sturgis, Kentucky. She was born July 30, 1935 at Messer, MO daughter of the late Claude Thomas and Pauline Mae (Richmond) Pulliam. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son James Bullock, a grandson Juston Bullock and a sister Frances Moore. Shirley grew up around Advance, and later moved to Flat River, St. Louis, Crystal City, and eventually retired to the Calhoun, Kentucky area. She attended church at the Buttonsberry Baptist Church in Buttonsberry, KY. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and baking fresh bread and hot cinnamon rolls for her family and friends. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her, including her children Kathie Owens, Millie Boyken, Susan Lott, Kellie Wilson, Tammie Sutherlin, Rhonda Lindsey and Karen Saye, all of Kentucky, Rocky Poppleton of Florida, Brenda Peters of Park Hills, Lisa Reese of Farmington, and Dixie Westerman of Illinois, a brother James Pulliam of Imperial, two sisters Carolyn Griswell of St. Charles and Peggy Graff of Crystal City, 30 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson and a host of other relatives, friends, and neighbors. Friends may call on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory. Visitation will resume on Wednesday after 7 a.m. and continue until the time of the service at 2 p.m. in the Cozean Chapel with the Reverend Chad Johnson officiating.
