Shirley C. Burgess

FARMINGTON - Shirley C. Burgess, of Farmington, passed away on December 21, 2020 at Mercy Jefferson in Festus at the age of 82. She was born July 6, 1938 to the late Cecil Edington and Pauline (Barcliff) Edington. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Edington and a sister, Sue Brooks. Shirley graduated from McKinley High School in South St. Louis, Missouri. In March of 1957 she married the love of her life, William "Bill" Burgess. Shirley worked for 34 years at the St. Louis City Health Department. After her retirement they moved to Farmington where she enjoyed cooking, cleaning and relaxing at home. For many years, they loved spending time at their cabin in the woods of Madison County near the Mark Twain National Forest. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Bill; sons, Bradford (Debbie) Burgess and Lawrence (Andrea) Burgess and daughter, Katherine Werley; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
