FREDERICKTOWN Scott Anthony Smith, of Fredericktown, entered into eternal rest on March 30, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 62. He was born on June 28, 1960, in Bonne Terre, Missouri, to the late James Smith and Patti (Hicks) Cureton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Smith, his grandparents, George and Ruth Higbee, his mother and father-in-law, Reverend Raymond and Wanda Hannah, his nephew, Bobby Hannah, his brother-in-law, Rick Hannah, and his dog, Pixie. Scott is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Debi Hannah-Smith, his children, Scott Matthews of Farmington, Shonda Militzer of Fredericktown, Daniel Laws of Farmington, Chad (Jennifer) Smith of Farmington, A.J. Smith of Fredericktown, Brennon (Amy) Smith of Hannibal, Corey (Ananda) Beeson of Whidbey Island, WA, and Angel Smith of Desloge, seventeen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, his sister, Angie (Denny) Gonz of Doe Run, his stepfather, John Helm, his brothers-in-law, Gene (Vicki) Hannah and Roger (Tracy) Hannah of Farmington, his nephews, Zack Phelps and Nick Phelps, special friends, Tina and Kenny Bales, Cheryl Donaldson and Willie, along with many nieces, nephews, friends, and his special canine companions, Bella and Sassy. Scott proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy and then worked as an aviation mechanic for over twenty years retiring from Boeing. He was a member of VFW Post 5741 of Leadington and Amvets Post 113 of Farmington. He was a kind and gentle natured man who loved his family deeply. He was very artistic, loved tinkering, and enjoyed fishing, camping, and riding his Harley. Scott will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until time of service with military honors at 7:00 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel with Pastor Randy Sawyer officiating. Private interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
