FARMINGTON-Sanford Clay Carr of Farmington, formerly of Ironton, passed away, Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Southbrook Skilled Nursing & Rehab at the age of 84 years. He was born June 26, 1928 in Reynolds County, Missouri son of the late Henry Clay and Vivian Palestine (Chapman) Carr. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Debra Carr, granddaughter Tammy Keith, and two great-grandsons, Cody Keith and Price Andrew Smith, and a half-brother Jack Carr. Sanford was a carpenter by trade and retired from JSL Albrice Construction. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, doing yard work, and watching sports, particularly baseball. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him, including two sons, John Carr of Ironton, and Ronald Carr of the State of Texas, two daughters, Gloria Freeman of Park Hills, and Velda Price of the State of Oklahoma, two sisters Mynaun Brown of Farmington and Nelda Casteel of DeSoto, 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Thursday, January 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Friday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the funeral at 11 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel.
