Sandy Strickland

Sandra "Sandy" Strickland passed away on Friday, August 15, 2014 at the age of 70. She was born on October 19, 1943 at Anderson, Indiana, daughter of the late Shelby and Florence M. Barnhill. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother; a sister and a granddaughter. Sandy spent most of her adult life in St. Clair County, Illinois before moving to St. Francois County in 1990. She was a busy homemaker who raised three sons. A member of International Gospel Assemblies, Sandy loved serving the Lord and attending gospel blue grass singings and revivals. For many years she was instrumental in assisting her husband with the training of seeing eye dogs. She enjoyed collecting angels and cooking meals for her family. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Bobby Strickland; 3 sons, Derold, Wesley and James Strickland; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Barnhill and a sister, Barbara Felkenhauer. Friends may call Sunday evening, August 17, 2014 at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 - 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Monday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the time of the service beginning at 11 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Reverend Don Mitchell officiating.
