Sandra Lee Powell of Ste. Genevieve passed away January 5, 2009, at Jefferson Memorial Regional Medical Center at the age of 61 years. She was born on September 2, 1947 at St. Louis, the daughter of the late Otis and Otella (Ray) O'Neal. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy, and two sisters, Cathy and Ruth. Mrs. Powell attended the Baptist Church. She grew up in St. Louis, where she attended schools and participated in many sports. For many years she was employed in the bookkeeping department of the Parkland Health Center. In her spare time she collected dolls, played crossword puzzles, and traveled. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Ronnie Powell and wife Sheila, Bobby and wife Tammy, all of Ste. Genevieve; six brothers, Bobby O'Neal of Alton, IL, Dennis O'Neal of Ste. Gevevieve, Tony O'Neal, Scott O'Neal, and Kenney O'Neal, all of Farmington, and Eric O'Neal of Bonne Terre; and a sister, Sue Jones of Chicago. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 8 at the Cozean Memorial Chapel. Visitation will resume at 7 a.m. on Friday, with funeral services at 10 a.m. at the Cozean Chapel, with the Rev. James Lacey officiating. Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens.
