MACON- Ruth (Horton) Basler of Farmington, went to her eternal rest on June 2, 2013 at Macon , Missouri at the age of 87 years.. Ruth was born on May 18, 1926 at Sprott Missouri, the only child of the late James and Nancy (Chandler) Horton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Lindell Andrew Basler in November of 2000. She graduated from Ste. Genevieve High School. On June 16, 1945, Ruth married Lindell Andrew Basler in St. Louis, Missouri. After Lindell returned from active duty in World War II, he and Ruth made their home in Farmington. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandparent and a gracious lady. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farmington. Ruth was an avid gardener and long time member of Farmington's 25 Gardeners. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. Ruth is survived by her three children Linda Ellis of Macon, Missouri, Jim Basler of Woodland, Washington and Mark Basler of Farmington, Missouri. Other survivors include Linda's husband Joseph Ellis; their daughter Nancy Chandler Ellis Lary and her husband, Brian Lary, and their children Bradyn Chandler, Ellis Kate and Lily Rose, all of South Bend, Indiana; Jim's wife, Catherine Jones Basler; their son, Christian Conkle, and his wife Christa Cloninger of Vancouver, Washington; Mark's wife, Jane Smith Basler; and their children, Dr. Emily Basler of Kirksville, Missouri, and Andrew Basler of St. Peters, Missouri. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. by Fr. Rickey Valleroy at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Farmington on Saturday, June 8, 2013. Interment will follow at the New Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Farmington. Honoring Ruth's wishes, the family requests that memorials be made to the New Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Farmington or Samaritan Memorial Hospital's Healing Gardens in Macon.
