Ruth Ann Ramsey

Ruth Ann Ramsey of Farmington passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2011, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, at the age of 74years. She was born on July 12, 1937, at Flat River, MO, daughter of the late Fred and Monetta (Anderson) Fisher. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Gene Ramsey in March of 2011. Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Leona Morris and Virginia Lewis and her baby brother, Billie Fisher. "Ruthie" as she was known to most everyone, was an elementary school teacher at Grandview Elementary School in Ware, MO. She loved teaching children and even in retirement she frequently volunteered her services at her grandson's schools in Farmington. She also enjoyed traveling and was a Western and Civil War history buff. In her spare time she liked doing embroidery and quilting. She was the ultimate grandmother to her beloved grandsons and great-grandson. Ruth is survived by her son, Eugene "Mike" Ramsey and his wife Judy; three grandsons, Jared Ramsey and wife Kim, Garrett Ramsey and Alec Ramsey; and a great-grandson, Jewell Ramsey; and a sister, Bonnie Keys, all of Farmington. Also surviving is a special friend, Evie Payton of Farmington and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4. Visitation will resume Wednesday at 7 a.m. with a funeral service at 1 p.m. in the Cozean Chapel. Interment will be at Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Ironton.
