FARMINGTON - Russell Raymond Mac Bride Jr. passed away on October 1, 2020 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center at the age of 60. He was born on August 6, 1960 in St. Louis to the late Russell Raymond Mac Bride Sr. and Marie (Lassa) Mac Bride. Russ was born during a much simpler time in St. Louis. He spent his early years in the Lou which led to his love of the St. Louis Blues and Cardinals. Russ and his closest sister Sharon were two peas in a pod growing up and always getting into some form of trouble. His two slightly wiser sisters Donna (Michael) & Eileen (Ron) had already learned how to stay out of "Dutch", which was later deemed Sharons nickname by their father. Russ took on this tradition throughout his life. Russ moved to Flat River with his father when his father remarried (to Shirley). Shirley became an integral part of a special persons life, Kyu-mok (Sue). Russ and Kyu-mok did not meet for a few years but were immediately best friends. He became the familys brother due to the special bond between the 3 of them. Russ graduated from Central High School and later from SEMO. His friends could always find Russ at a party by following the laughter. Russ never met a stranger and always seemed to have a story to tell. He was the life of the party, but also the most giving person you could ever know. His knowledge of movies and music would make him your first invite to any trivia night. Although Russs mom and sisters remained in St. Louis, Russ settled in the country having two children Magen and Bryce (Alex) and later marrying the love of his life, Connie. Together, they had one son Kaiden. Russ had a very successful career in finance and marketing. However, his biggest successes, if you were to ask him, were his children and grandchildren Oliver, and soon to be grandson Callan. Russ was known for giving nicknames to just about everyone he was close to and called everyone he met "Babe", but that is a story for another day. Magen is going to carry on this tradition and is doing a fine job so far. Her first selected nickname is Rayray, for whom this will remain a close family secret. Although not everyone is a fan just yet, this special name is sure to grow on them. Russ continued his love of the St. Louis Blues as a season ticket holder for over 30 years. He shared his love of the Cardinals with his mom Marie and stepmom Shirley. Russ also had a passion for travel. Together, he and his wife Connie adventured on 14 cruises during their 18-year marriage and introduced their young son Kaiden to 11 countries. Russ loved being outdoors, and camping was his way to relax and spend time with family. However, he always had to have the biggest campfire of the entire campground. He was also an excellent cook, and his wifes family tradition of campfire pies became a MacBride tradition, too. Russ lost his parents in the last 3 years and his grandparents many years before, so he was not accustomed to being in funeral homes. When he and his wife met almost 19 years ago, he had only been to a couple of funerals. Because of this, Russ did not wish to have a funeral service, but instead wanted his family and friends to celebrate his life in laughter. Russ's family would like to invite friends and family to Celebrate his Life on Saturday, October 24 from 1:00pm-4:00pm at St. Francois County Country Club, 4901 Hillsboro Road, Farmington. There will also be a scramble at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Russ would have preferred donations to take care of his minor child, Kaiden.
