Ruby Usher

Ruby Cordelia Usher of Morrisville, formerly of Bismarck passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2014, at the age of 91 years. She was born on July 28, 1922, at Howes Mill, MO, daughter of the late Sherman and Viola (Mounce) Smith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four sons, Charlie, William, Jerry and Terry Usher and all of her siblings. As a child Ruby remembered walking for three days with her family and a wagon from Howes Mill to the Bismarck area where they relocated. She lived there for many years before living various other places as an adult. She was a devoted mother to seven children and was a hard worker who provided a good life for her children. In her retirement years she moved to Morrisville, Missouri where she lived by family. Her favorite pastimes were taking walks, spending time basking in the sunshine and gardening. She dearly loved her pets and treated them like children. Survivors include her daughter, Ellen (Mrs. James) Crawford, two sons, Rex Usher and Joe Usher and his fiance, Angela; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews and other extended friends and family. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Monday, March 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the time of the funeral beginning at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel. Interment will follow that afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at Mounce Family Cemetery near Salem, Missouri. Memorials may be made to the family to defray costs of Mrs. Usher's services.
