Ruby Johnson

April 2, 1919 — November 5, 2013

Ruby J. Johnson of Farmington passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at the age of 94. She was born on April 2, 1919, at Midco, MO, daughter of the late James H. and Anna E. (Russell) Nicholson. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Nathaniel Johnson; a son, John Kenneth Johnson; five brothers, Lewis, Carl, Paul, Arthur and James, in infancy; and one sister, Ruth Smith. Ruby was a lifelong resident of the area and had been an employee of First Baptist Church of Farmington for many years and was a faithful member of that church as well. She will be remembered as a hard worker with a great work ethic. She had a quick wit and sense of humor as well. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting and making ceramics with friends at church and at Hen House Ceramics. Survivors include her daughter, Janet (Mrs. Ed) Pogue; granddaughters, Laura Johnson Diamond, Lisa Johnson Burns and Brenda Whiters; one grandson, Gary Pendarvis; nine great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandsons; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Friday, November 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume in the funeral home on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until 12 noon. Funeral services will follow at the First Baptist Church of Farmington at 2 p.m. with Dr. William Miller officiating. Interment will be at Parkview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's' Hospital or First Baptist Church of Farmington.
