Roy Lee Clark

January 31, 1919 — October 10, 2015

FARMINGTON - Roy L. Clark, of Farmington passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at The Arbors at Maplebrook on October 10, 2015 at the age of 96. He was born January 31, 1919 to the late Jonah V. and Elizabeth (Watkins) Clark. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by seven sisters; two brothers; and a granddaughter, Kelly Lynn Clark. A native of Knob Lick, Roy began working early in his teens to help support his large family. He took on multiple jobs until the time he enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served his country during World War II and was a prisoner of war in Germany. After the war he returned to the Farmington area where he married the love of his life, Genevieve Knuckles in 1946. Roy embarked on a long career as a welder/pipefitter and became accomplished and well known for his trade. Aside from his love of hunting and fishing, he was an accomplished fiddle player. He played music by ear and played many string instruments as well as piano. He was in his element when frying fish for family get togethers. Roy was a Thirty Second Degree Freemason and a member of the Scottish Rite as well as a member of the Farmington Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors in addition to his wife of 69 years, Genevieve, include their two sons, Greg (Donna) Clark of Festus and Roger (Dawn) Clark of Bonne Terre; and Roy's two sons, Roy E. Clark, Jr. and William L. J. Clark, both of Farmington; seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Megan, Abigail, Jordan, Alexandra, Roy III and Becky; thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Eleanor Allen and Josephine Daggett. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Monday, October 12 from 5 - 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Tuesday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Rev. Roger Hogan officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Farmington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
