FARMINGTON - Rosemary (Chapman) Dunaway of Farmington passed away October 15, 2018 at Camelot Nursing Center at the age of 83. She was born September 17, 1935 in St. Louis and was raised in Irondale by her grandparents, the late Elbert "Eb" and Lena (Martin) Chapman who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bill Landon Dunaway and her son, Darrel James "Jimmy" Shoemake Jr. Rosemary was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she sang in the choir, the Farmington BPW Club, a volunteer at Parkland Hospital and a past member of the Farmington Rotary Club. For many years she was employed at Cozean Memorial Chapel as a secretary and a funeral director and was a former member of the Missouri Funeral Directors Association. Rosemary loved her family, friends and life in general. She enjoyed writing poetry, short stories, water color, acrylic painting, and playing the keyboard and piano for her own amusement. She also loved to sing duets with her late husband Bill. Rosemary loved the many trips her and Bill took together whether it was across the state, the country or across the ocean. She especially loved the time she spent with her grandchildren. She was so very proud to be a part of their lives. She loves spending time in her yard admiring all the beautiful trees and flowers she and Bill had planted. Rosemary enjoyed cooking, especially breads and desserts and crocheting afghans and sweaters. She wishes to be remembered as a caring person who loved life. Survivors include her five stepchildren, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, her cousin, Charles Chapman, who was raised as a brother, and her best friend of more than 70 years, Ruth Stevens.
