Roger Wayne Pratt of Farmington, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the age of 75 years, 8 months, and 23 days. He was born on September 14, 1937, at St. Louis, MO, son of the late John Roger Pratt and Ova Cricket (Young) Brooks. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Pratt; and a grandson, Sean Michael Swoboda. Roger grew up in Irondale where he graduated from high school in 1955. In 1957 he enlisted in the United States Navy and served as an aviation boatswain mate on the USS Phillipine Seas. Roger was a career ironworker and a life long member of the Ironworkers Local 396. He was a current member of the St. Francois County Labor Club, Democrat Club and the St. Francois County Law Enforcement Restitution Fund Board. A self-taught musician, Roger played many instruments and had played with many different bands and more recently was a member of the Sheriff's band. He will be remembered as being an activist in local community fund raisers and a passionate supporter of local law enforcement. His favorite things were music, fishing and peanut butter milkshakes. Roger was a straight shooter who always told the truth no matter what the consequence. Roger is survived by the great love of his life, his wife of 52 years, Judy (Westover) Pratt; two daughters, Lisa Yvonne Pratt-Swoboda and husband, Kevin and Laura Faye Byron and husband, Billy; three special grandchildren to which he was known as "Poppy", Emma Grace Swoboda, Eric Wayne Byron and Katie Elizabeth Byron; a beloved sister, Patricia Wadlow; a special half-sister, Rosemary Dunaway; a niece, Pamela Jackson and other extended family and many good friends. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Saturday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon followed by a memorial service at 12 noon with Reverend Darryl Rhodes officiating.
